Ferris vows to come back better than ever

on 01/17/2013

Ireland flanker Stephen Ferris is confident he will return from ankle surgery a better player.

Ferris, who won the last of his 35 Test caps against England in last year's Six Nations, went under the knife last month after picking up the injury on RaboDirect PRO12 duty with Ulster. But he insists he is winning his fitness battle and is targeting a mid-February return while also hoping to play some part in this year's Six Nations.

"I'm the strongest I've ever been in the gym and personally I feel absolutely fantastic, so I just can't wait to get back out there," he told the Irish Independent. "When I do get back out there, I think I'll be better than I was when I left off."
