Smith set to switch to France?

Reports in the South African press claim that Springboks flanker Juan Smith is a target for some of France's best clubs. Smith has been injured for the large majority of the past two years but Bayonne are reported to be leading the way for his signature.

Toulon close in on former Bok?

Reports in the French press suggest that Toulon are looking to bring in ex-Boks lock Danie Rossouw to play alongside Bakkies Botha in their second-row. They recruited Nick Kennedy over the summer and have Simon Shaw on their books, but La Provence claims that they are keen on adding another option.

Foden set for Metro switch?

Reports in the Rugby Paper claim that England fullback Ben Foden is a target for big-spending Top 14 side Racing Metro. Bath fly-half Olly Barkley opted to make the switch to the Parisian side this week and the newspaper claims that they are keen on tying down Foden on a monster deal despite the fullback having 18 months left on his current deal.

Leicester bring in Noone

BBC Radio Leicester claim that the Leicester Tigers have tied up a deal to sign back-rower Michael Noone until the end of the season. He is a former Doncaster and Leinster player and will bolster their back-row options following the retirements of Craig Newby and Ben Woods.

Racing Metro chase Barkley?

Reports in the French press suggest that Racing Metro - with Juan Martin Hernandez on international duty and with both Jonathan Wisniewski and Benjamin Dambielle sidelined - are keen on bringing in a fly-half as an injury joker. It appears that they are keen on pursuing Olly Barkley but he is still under contract at the Aviva Premiership side. One other option, according to reports, is former Bath fly-half Butch James.

Waratahs line up Cheika

Reports in the Australian press suggest that ex-Stade Francais and Leinster boss Michael Cheika is poised to take over as the new boss of the Waratahs. The Sydney Morning Herald claims that Cheika presented his plans for the Sydney-based franchise which included growing the local supporter base alongside the success of the team.

D'Apice to bolster Gloucester's options?

Italian hooker Tommaso D'Apice looks set to be joining Aviva Premiership side Gloucester. D'Apice, who has 10 international caps, Tweeted on Monday: "I'm really proud to be new player for Gloucester Rugby."

Tuilagi to return to the Tigers?

The Rugby Paper reports that Leicester Tigers are contemplating whether to try and tempt Alesana Tuilagi back to the club after Japan's season comes to an end. Tuilagi left Welford Road last summer and the Tigers have brought in a variety of new signings, but you can't help but feel that if Tuilagi becomes available then he will be wearing red and green by the end of the season.
