Emerick to remain a Wasp

Reports in America suggest that versatile USA Eagles back Paul Emerick has signed a one-year contract with Aviva Premiership side London Wasps. Emerick moved to Adams Park on a short-term deal last year but clearly did enough to impress the overarching and has reportedly penned a new deal.

RWC'15 chief set for exit?

England Rugby 215 chief executive Paul Vaughan is reportedly under increasing pressure to hold onto his position. The Times reports that speculation is mounting that a shake-up of the board of England’s Rugby World Cup executive team is imminent as concerns grow at a perceived lack of urgency in preparations for the tournament in 2015. "There is a feeling that things have been pottering along,” a source said. “It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the sport in England and they have to make the most of it. There is a lot riding on it, especially after what New Zealand produced. Their ‘stadium of four million’ concept was a triumph. It is all about perception, the message and creating a buzz.”

Haughton to Perpignan?

French newspaper L'Equipe reports that ex-Wasps fullback Richard Haughton is set to sign a six-month contract with Perpignan as their injury joker. Sofiane Guitoune suffered a long-term injury in their Top 14 opener and although Haughton is a new arrival at Championship side Jersey, he looks set to make the switch to France.

Elsom to join Toulon?

Former Wallabies flanker Rocky Elsom has failed his medical with the Kobe Steelers and has since been seen at Toulon chatting with Mourad Boudjellal, according to reports in the French press. French PROD2 side Narbonne have also been linked with Elsom.

Fourie set to join Toulon

Stormers hooker Dean Fourie looks set to join the Top 14 Orange giants Toulon. They currently have Sebastian Bruno in their ranks but have made no secret of the fact that they are looking to bolster their resources with another hooker. Fourie is likely to link up with Toulon after the culmination of the Currie Cup.

Perpignan to dip into transfer market

Top 14 Orange side Perpignan look set to enter the transfer market for an injury joker after Sofiane Guitoune was ruled out for six months. He joined the Catalan from Albi in the close season and ruptured his cruciate knee ligaments against Toulon on Saturday.

Reports on suggest that London Irish have completed a deal to sign Jerry Yanuyanutawa from the Brumbies. The Fijian international played for the national side over the summer and in doing so, ended his hopes of extending his time at the Brumbies.

Scarlets closing in on new lock

Reports in the Welsh press suggest that the Scarlets are on the verge of agreeing a deal to sign young Australian lock Jake Ball. Ball turned out in Super Rugby last term for the Western Force and at at 6ft 7in and 19st will bring a physical presence to the side.

Sale set to step in for Shepherd?

Sale Sharks are poised to step in and sign former Wallabies international Cameron Shepherd after his move to Northampton Saints fell through on medical grounds. The Rugby Paper reports that the winger/fullback is poised to put pen to paper on a one-year deal and asked to prove his fitness. A longer deal for the 28-year-old is in the pipeline should he win his fitness battle.

Uys to swap Falcons for Sale?

Reports in the Newcastle Journal suggest that Newcastle's South African centre Corne Uys will leave the Falcons and join Sale Sharks. With the Falcons bolstering their centre resources with the recruitment of Alex Crockett, Tane Tu’ipulotu and Andy Higgins, Uys has been deemed surplus to requirements after an injury-ravaged first season in the Aviva Premiership last term.
