Gerrard to return to Japan

Former Wallabies fullback Mark Gerrard has revealed that he will return to Japan at the end of the current Super Rugby season. Gerrard has been an integral part of the Melbourne Rebels squad since their inception but will leave the club after the final rounds of the tournament.

Exiles deny deal with Stewart

London Irish boss Brian Smith has denied reports linking his side with Manly Sea Eagles star Brett Stewart. Smith told the Reading Chronicle: "We're not interested in Brett Stewart. He's a very good player but we haven't had any contact with him or his agent, it's just paper talk. The story has been put out to try and improve the deal that he can get."

Elsom set for Japan switch

According to reports in the Australian press, Rocky Elsom is to take up a two-year contract in Japan with the Kobe Steel. He is believed to have a clause in his contract that allows him to play in Europe between January and June in both the 2013 and 2014 seasons. Top 14 sides Toulouse and Stade Francais are believed to be interested in recruiting the Wallaby blindside.

Henson to the Scarlets?

ESPNscrum are hearing reports that Parc Y Scarlets could be Gavin Henson's next port of call. Whether he ends up at the Scarlets or not, it is surely beyond 'last chance saloon' for the hugely talented but flawed back. It would be a big gamble from new Scarlets boss Simon Easterby to take on Henson but the game would be better off if he can re-find his form and find some solace at a new side.

Hanks in line for Nottingham return

Former London Wasps and Sale Sharks coach Tony Hanks could be set to return to English rugby with Championship side Nottingham. The Rugby Paper reports that the New Zealander is the club's first choice to replace Glenn Delaney as director of rugby, but faces competition from Japan assistant coach Grant Doorey and former Bath coach Martin Haag.

Exiles chasing rugby league star

London Irish have tabled a huge over to try and tempt rugby league star Brett Stewart to cross codes and journey from Australia to the Aviva Premiership, according to reports. The Herald Sun claims that the star could collect up to AUS$850,000 (£546k) a season at the Exiles with a source telling the newspaper: "London Irish have the money.

"Rugby union has a salary cap twice the size of Super League. Brett Stewart would be a sensation over here. We watch him play NRL every week. He is an amazing athlete. He would set alight our competition."

Kankowski switches to Japan

Sharks and Springboks No.8 Ryan Kankowski has signed a six-month contract to play for Toyota Verblitz in the Japanese Top League. He will return in time for the 2013 Super Rugby season.

Toulon are reportedly keen on securing Springboks duo Adriaan Strauss and CJ Van der Linde. Reports in the French press suggest that Van der Linde could be recruited as a medical joker outside of the transfer window come the end of this season's Super Rugby.

U-Turn for Delve?

According to reports in the Australian press, Melbourne Rebels and Wales No.8 Gareth Delve has performed a u-turn on his decision to join Toulon and is instead seeking to stay in Australia. Rebels CEO Steve Boland said of Delve: "If there was a way we were able to keep Gareth to work for everybody we'd love to do it, but at the moment the ball's in his court and we'll be giving him some space while he's in camp with Wales and we'll see what happens after the next couple of weeks.

"I guess we're waiting advice from him on where he stands in that situation. That's an issue at the moment for Gareth to be working through. He's a fantastic servant to the club."

Following news that Luke Fitzgerald's contract talks have broken down the IRFU, reports in the press suggest that teams in both France and England are keen on recruiting the British & Irish Lion. One potential stumbling block could be Fitzgerald's current fitness with the winger ruled out until 2013.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that David Pocock looks set to walk out on the Western Force and link up with the Brumbies in a deal that could earn the openside up to A$500,000 (£318,000) a season. The newspaper reports that Pocock, who will captain Australia against Scotland on Tuesday, has a strong relationship with coach Jake White, and is said to be desperate to play for a team capable of winning the Super Rugby title. He is expected to confirm the move to the capital within coming weeks

Jamie Foster interesting Premiership clubs

St Helens rugby league star Jamie Foster is ready to activate a release cause in his contract and cross to union at the end of the Super League season in October, The Rugby Paper reports. He has previously turned down two offers from union clubs, but with Saints hoping to free up some space in their salary cap, they are prepared to let the winger, who has over a 90 percent kicking record, leave.

Dominici desperate for Stade call

Former Stade Francais wing Christophe Dominici has issued a come and get me plea to new team manager Chris Pool-Jones, Midi Olympique reports. "The only club were I want to be involved and where I want to do great things is Stade Francais, but they haven't even called. This is my club," Dominici said. Dominici played for the Parisians from 1997 until 2008 then took over as coach for a season after he retired from playing.

Agulla to Racing Metro?

The Leicester Mercury claims that Pumas flyer Horacio Agulla is reportedly close to joining Racing Metro ahead of next season. The diminutive winger was keen to stay at Welford Road but due to the newly-formed Rugby Championship running on until October, Agulla looks set for a switch to France.
